How to Host A School Supply Drive with Partnerships for Children

Hosting a school supply drive is a simple way to make a huge impact on a child's school year. Returning to the classroom can be stressful for any child. Children in families connected with Child Protective Services are often faced with an added challenge: being unable to purchase school supplies for the new school year.

Each year, Partnerships for Children distributes over 3,000 backpacks filled with essential school supplies to kids connected to CPS. We can't do this alone. Partnerships for Children relies on generous contributions to meet every child's need. When you host a Back to School supply drive, you can ensure that every child starts the school year prepared to succeed.

Here's how you can host your own Back to School Supply Drive with your community:

Set a Date for Collection

Plan a start and end date to collect school supplies. We recommend choosing a week - two weeks where you might see the most engagement from your office and community. We ask that all donations be delivered to the Rainbow Room by July 23rd.

Connect with the PFC Team to Plan Your Drive

The supplies we need most changes throughout the Summer. Reach out to the PFC Team to coordinate the most needed items at the time. This helps set your drive up for success, while best serving children interacting with CPS. Contact peyton@partnershipsforchildren.org to coordinate most needed items and drive dates.

Share, Share, Share!

Inform your workforce, friends, family, and wider community that you're collecting school supplies for children in the care of Child Protective Services. Promote your school supply drive through fliers and on social media using this flier template!

Collaborate and Deliver Collected Items

Celebrate yourselves and those who supported your school supply drive! Send out thank-you's via social media and share all you've collected. Then, deliver the items you collected to the Rainbow Room (14000 Summit Dr. Austin, TX., 78728). Connect with our team to arrange a delivery time - Wednesdays during business hours work best for our team to give tours of the Rainbow Room.
