5 Ways to Get Involved: Supporting Foster Youth in Central Texas

One of the amazing things about Partnerships for Children is the array of programming we offer designed to directly serve youth and families connected to Child Protective Services throughout Central Texas. There are plenty of ways to get involved and support your local foster care community!

Here are 5 ways to get involved!

Getting involved with the Heart Gallery is a meaningful way to help children who are in foster care by helping to create awareness in our community for the need for adoptive families and homes.

#1 Be A Champion: Help us expand outreach efforts throughout Central Texas by utilizing community connections to place Heart Gallery exhibits into new locations.

#2 Host an Exhibit: Increase the likelihood of children being adopted by displaying their portraits at your business, doctor's office, church, etc.

#3 Volunteer: Join our group of professional photographers that donate their time and talents to photographing children in the Heart Gallery.

The Kids in a New Groove (KING) our mentoring through music program that provides Central Texas youth who have experienced the child welfare system with one-on-one music mentoring through free weekly, private music lessons, giving students the ability to transform their lives through connection and support.

#4 Become A KING Mentor: By becoming a music mentor, you will help a youth grow as a musician as well as teach them to build trusting relationships and boost their self-confidence. Don’t worry, you do not need to be a Grammy award winning artist to be a mentor, you just need to be one lesson ahead of your student!

YES Mentoring is a program designed to help youth in foster care who are aging out of care by providing support, guidance, and a supportive adult to help them learn life skills and transition to independent living.

#5 Become A YES Mentor:As a mentor, you will work one-on-one with your mentee and begin your mentoring journey by being in contact with them weekly and seeing them monthly for a minimum of a year. During this time, you will also work with them on financial literacy and basic life skills.
