Our History in Waco

1998

With the help of First Lady of Texas, Laura Bush, Rainbow Rooms were developed and replicated throughout Texas.  These 24/7 resource rooms are available for caseworkers to utilize for the youth connected to Child Protective Services. The Junior League of Waco managed the Waco Rainbow Room.

2011

Partnerships for Children expanded their geographic coverage for their Holiday Wishes program to include 22 counties in the Central Texas Region (Region 7).  This included over 250 youth from the Greater Waco community.  This past December, that number increased to over 1000 youth served.

2014

Partnerships for Children announced their newest program, the Heart Gallery of Central Texas. This program helps hard-to-place children who’ve been waiting to be adopted, find their forever family.  This outreach program covers all of Region 7 and provides both education and support for families interested in learning more about the foster care system and adoption in Central Texas.

2019

Ownership of the Waco Rainbow Room was conveyed to Partnerships for Children.  In June, PFC hired a part-time Waco Rainbow Room Coordinator to maintain inventory, work with the caseworkers, and build community support in the Greater Waco area.

2021

Over the past two years PFC has expanded services in the Rainbow Room and decreased wait times for youth and CPS workers for requested items. Our accessibility to CPS, efficient practices, and our ability to connect with kids at all stages in their lives allow us to better serve those who need us most by providing real and impactful solutions.
